Cyber Smart Arena Focused capability

CyberUP solutions

FOCUSED SIMULATION.TARGETED READINESS.

A capability built around the systems, processes or business units that matter most. Cyber Smart Arena focuses IT/OT emulation, scenario design and response testing on a selected part of your organisation.

Environment
A selected part of the client’s systems
Installation
Configuration sized for the agreed scope
Development
Extensions assessed against new priorities

Focused by design

BUILD CAPABILITY
WHERE THE RISK MATTERS.

Smart Arena concentrates realism, exercising and observation on a priority scope. It is a tailored environment with a clear operational purpose, not an emulation of the entire organisation.

Illustration of a Cyber Arena environment with systems and workstations.

Critical process

An essential process.

Targeted emulation of a process and the dependencies needed to exercise its response.

Business unit

A high-impact function.

Scenarios built around a business unit, service or operational scope with specific requirements.

OT / ICS

An industrial environment.

Focus on control systems, operators and coordination with the IT environment.

Operational priority

Where the response must hold.

Systems, people and procedures are exercised together where disruption would have the greatest impact.

Customer-specific environment

EMULATE WHAT MATTERS.
EXERCISE THE RESPONSE.

Smart Arena represents a selected part of the client’s environment and its dependencies. A technical focus becomes an organisational test when it also involves the people who analyse, decide and coordinate.

A defined scope, not a siloThe system at the centre of the scenario is exercised alongside its relevant dependencies and responsibilities.

Targeted scope
Client production network

Operational systems remain separate from the exercise environment.

Isolation / segregation from production

Cyber Smart Arena

Selected system or process

Emulation of the agreed scope and the necessary dependencies.

Enterprise IT
Identity, network, applications
OT / ICS
Control, processes and operations where relevant
People and decisions
Cyber, IT, management and the functions involved
Controlled connectivity

Remote access, support and updates according to configuration.

A conceptual map of the scope and connections, to be defined within the project. Isolation from production does not mean the absence of all network connectivity.

Optimised footprint

MORE FOCUS.
CLOSER TO YOUR OPERATIONS.

Space, infrastructure and scenarios are sized for the scope to be exercised. The aim is to recreate the necessary context and produce evidence that supports improvement.

Sizing the capability

SystemsWhat to includeThe components needed to represent the priority system or process.

Identity, network, applications and OT / ICS components are selected according to the objective. The scope is shaped by the Arena's mission, not by the number of elements included.

ScenariosWhich situation to exerciseDisruption, compromise or coordination between functions.

The scenario should make the selected capabilities observable: technical analysis, escalation, decisions and collaboration within the agreed scope.

DevelopmentHow to assess extensionsNew systems, teams and use cases as priorities change.

A Smart Arena can evolve progressively. Every extension requires assessment of scope, dependencies and configuration; expansion is neither automatic nor unlimited.

Isolated from the client’s production network. Remote access, support and updates use controlled connectivity. Segregation does not mean isolation from every network or immunity from external threats.

Scenario-focused

A CLEAR OBJECTIVE.
AN OBSERVABLE RESPONSE.

Process disruption, system compromise or cross-functional coordination: the scenario makes actions, decisions and gaps visible against the exercise objectives.

Decisions
Priorities, available information and the rationale for decisions.
Coordination
Handovers of responsibility and collaboration between teams.
Containment
Technical actions and their consequences for the process being protected.
Recovery
Dependencies and conditions for restoring the service.
Escalation
Involvement of the decision-making authorities defined in procedures.
Communication
Information sharing between the functions involved.

These are areas of observation, not previously measured results. Criteria and measurements are defined for the specific exercise.

Progressive capability

START WITH A FOCUS.
EVOLVE WITH THE MISSION.

New systems, scenarios, teams and use cases can be integrated as readiness requirements expand. Growth of the environment remains distinct from how the exercise is conducted.

The same lifecycle applies to a targeted scope:

  1. Design

    Define the exercise

Objectives, scope, participants and observation criteria.

  2. Attack

    Activate the scenario

The Red Team introduces the events defined for the exercise.

  3. Respond

    Put the response into practice

The Blue Team tests its analysis, actions and coordination.

  4. Control

    Observe and coordinate

The White Team manages the exercise and gathers evidence.

  5. Improve

    Turn experience into improvement

Debrief, observed gaps and actions for subsequent exercises.

Control throughout the exercise. The White Team oversees every phase; its work does not begin at the fourth step. Duration, intensity and events depend on the scenario.

When to choose it

FOCUSED CAPABILITY.
REAL OPERATIONAL VALUE.

When the priority is a particular process, system or environment, with tailoring and scenarios aligned to that context.

  • An identified priority scope and a clear operational objective.
  • Specific IT / OT requirements and dependencies to exercise.
  • Progressive development, assessed as requirements change.
