Partners & Ecosystem

CyberUP Institute

SHARED
CAPABILITY.
CLEAR
RESPONSIBILITY.

CyberUP coordinates technological, strategic and specialist expertise around one objective: turning the ecosystem’s contributions into a coherent operational capability that can be sustained over time.

Technology, strategy and specialist expertise. Defined contributions · programme coordination

The value of the ecosystem

Expertise matters
for what it makes possible.

Expertise that
strengthens the model.

Technology, strategic perspective and specialist expertise support enterprise and institutional programmes. Their value depends on their contribution and on clear responsibilities, not on the number of organisations involved.

The contribution

What the programme needs.

Mission, environment and objectives guide the expertise to bring together. Each specialism addresses a specific client need.

The relationship

Who contributes, and in what role.

Technology provision, strategic collaboration and specialist work have different scopes. Arrangements and responsibilities are defined for each programme.

The areas described on this page represent expertise and collaboration, not a list of named partnerships.

Complementary contributions

Every specialism
has a purpose.

Complementary expertise.
One coordinated programme.

Technology, strategy and specialist expertise translate into practical contributions. These areas describe the expertise brought into a project, not partner organisations.

CyberUP programme
Objectives, interfaces and responsibilities.

Operational and technical coordination connects the contributions needed.

Technology & innovation
Components and integrations for building exercise environments.
Ethical hacking
Adversary techniques and offensive security within authorised activities.
Research & development
Research, innovation and analysis of emerging threats.
Cyber Operations
Intelligence, monitoring, response and operational support.
Legal & Compliance
Legal, regulatory and compliance considerations relevant to the programme.
Business & Strategy
A strategic perspective aligned with the organisation’s mission and objectives.

Expertise map. Participation and the scope of each contribution depend on the agreed programme.

Collaboration model

Coordinating expertise
throughout the programme.

From ecosystem
to capability.

Value does not come from the number of partners. It comes from how different expertise is selected, integrated, exercised and sustained within a coherent operating model.

  1. Select

    The right expertise.

Identify the contribution needed for the mission, environment and programme objective.

  2. Integrate

    One architecture.

Connect technologies, specialists and processes within the CyberUP model, with explicit roles and interfaces.

  3. Exercise

    Capability put to the test.

Where agreed, bring these contributions into scenarios, exercises and environments that make the response observable.

  4. Sustain

    Capability that evolves.

Align support, updates and improvement with the context and priorities, within the agreed activities.

This cycle describes collaboration within the ecosystem. Scope, responsibilities and support arrangements are defined in the programme; they do not replace the method for preparing the organisation.

Arena Ecosystem

Environment, scenarios,
exercise and observation.

Integrated expertise.
An environment for exercising.

The Cyber Arena requires more than a platform: IT / OT / ICS integration, scenario engineering, exercise control, observation and support. The ecosystem helps bring these elements together within the scope of the chosen solution.

Illustration of the different environments and components of a Cyber Arena.

Spaces, systems and responsibilities.

Blue Team IT / OT
Technical functions exercise defence and response within the simulated scope.
Red Team
Adversarial activities test the environments under the agreed rules.
White Team
Coordinates and supervises the entire exercise, managing its rules and conduct.
Training Room
Space for theoretical preparation, practical work and discussion between participants.
Data Centre
Simulation and emulation infrastructure supporting the represented environments.

The solution defines the scope.

Physical and Smart Arena use dedicated emulation. Training Arena uses generic CyberUP environments, not a replica of the client’s systems. Isolation or segregation is from the client’s production network, with controlled connectivity according to the configuration.

Clear relationships

Each role must
be clear.

Clear contributions.
Distinct relationships.

The nature of the relationship matters: expertise, supply, collaboration and client engagements describe different contributions.

Explore the distinctions.

PartnerA defined collaboration

A specific collaboration with a defined contribution and responsibilities. The use of a technology does not, by itself, establish this relationship.

Technology supplierComponents and integrations

Provides technology or components within the relevant scope of the solution. This does not automatically constitute a strategic partnership.

ClientThe organisation the programme serves

The organisation for which the engagement is delivered. The commercial relationship is distinct from supply and collaboration.

ReferenceDocumented experience

Actual work attributed to those who carried it out, with a defined scope and evidence that can be shared. A public incident does not establish a CyberUP engagement.

For the client

Specialist expertise
in a coherent programme.

Greater specialisation.
One point of coordination.

The ecosystem has value when it reduces complexity for the client, not when it transfers that complexity to them.

Integrated architecture

Different capabilities aligned with the objectives, systems and activities of one programme.

Specialist depth

Expertise selected for the client’s industry, infrastructure and mission.

Operational coordination

CyberUP retains programme direction, coordination and the client relationship within the agreed scope.
